On Signing Day, Hugh Freeze promised that jumbo-sized tight end-slash-quarterback prospect Jeremy Liggins would get his shot at quarterback despite weighing more than 300 pounds.
By the time Ole Miss released its spring roster, Liggins wasn't quite that big, officially -- the JUCO transfer and former LSU signee is currently listed at 6-foot-3, 296 pounds. And in any case, Freeze has made good on that promise. Via Ben Garrett of Ole Miss Spirit, here's the eye-opening photographic proof:
But how is Liggins faring? Right now he shapes up as the Rebels' fourth or fifth-string quarterback, with the Clarion-Ledger reporting that redshirt freshmen Ryan Buchanan and Devante Kincade are locked in a battle for the right to back up starter Bo Wallace. But quarterbacks coach Dan Werner said he could envision Liggins getting playing time and a short-yardage change-of-pace.
“Jeremy is so big and so physical,” Werner said. “[H]e's a guy that on third-and-1, we can fake it and let him run downhill and it's going to be tough to stop him for a one-yard gain.”
Looking at the photo above, it's hard to argue.
