Malcolm Mitchell cannot catch a break.

Georgia's second-leading receiver as a true freshman in 2011 and again as a sophomore in 2012, Mitchell tore his right ACL in the Bulldogs' season-opening loss to Clemson -- the start a biblical deluge of injuries that derailed Georgia's 2013 campaign -- and sat the rest of the season, earning a redshirt.

Now a rising junior, Mitchell has been doing limited work in the Bulldogs' spring camp in anticipation of his 2014 return. But even those efforts have been cut short, the school confirmed Saturday, after Mitchell injured his left leg in a midweek practice. Mitchell will miss the remainder of spring practice recovering.

Per the Associated Press, Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson said that Mitchell is expected to make a full recovery and will be fully ready for the start of fall camp in August.

With reliable targets like Arthur Lynch and Rantavious Wooten graduated, there's little doubt that having a special talent like Mitchell -- for which 2014 will mark the third consecutive preseason in which he'll be projected as the Bulldogs' top receiver -- healthy is a borderline necessity if Georgia wants to return to SEC contention.

But you'll forgive Bulldog fans made skittish by Mitchell's injury history (not to mention the injury history of virtually every Georgia wideout of the past few seasons) if they're not counting that particular chicken before it hatches, so to speak.
