UCF will have another quarterback competing to replace Blake Bortles this summer.

Nick Patti, who transferred to UCF from Boise State in March, has been ruled eligible to play this fall by the NCAA. Patti's father, Ed Patti, told the Orlando Sentinel that his son didn't receive a hardship waiver, but rather the NCAA waived the rule that normally requires a transfer to sit out a season "based on personal reasons."

Whatever those reasons are, they worked to the Knights benefit.

While NFL scouts are wondering how early former UCF quarterback Blake Bortles should be taken in May's NFL Draft, the Knights are busy trying to find his replacement. Patti will join a competition that already includes Justin Holman, Pete DiNovo and Tyler Harris. Holman, who served as Bortles' backup last season, is considered the front-runner for the job.

Patti appeared in six games for Boise State as a freshman last season, completing eight of his 11 passes for 63 yards.
