Southern California is losing one of its talented running backs, as Ty Isaac has announced he is transferring from the school to be closer to home.
"I've been released from my scholarship at USC," Isaac said. "It was based on a family decision. My mom isn't well so I wanted to be closer to my family.
"I really enjoyed my time at USC but it's decision that I had to make and I made it."
Isaac was a four-star member of USC's 2013 recruiting class, and did see some limited time on the field during his freshman season. Isaac had 40 carries for 236 yards and two touchdowns last season, and he also caught four passes for 57 yards.
While Isaac did not mention any schools as a possible destination, if he is returning home to be closer to his mother, that could be good news for Notre Dame, Northwestern and Illinois. The Joliet, Ill., native had scholarship offers from all three schools -- and just about everyone else -- coming out of high school. Odds are he'll have just as many potential suitors available to him this time as well.
