Jameis Winston received yet another accolade as a result of his wildly successful 2013-14 year at Florida State.
The ACC named Winston the 61st recipient of the Anthony J. McKevlin Award, given annually to the male athlete of the year. Winston received the honor not only for his Heisman Trophy winning season on the football field but also for his role with the Seminoles baseball team.
According to the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA), Winston received just over half of the votes for male athlete of the year. Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald placed second in the balloting.
Winston was the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Rookie of the Year, a consensus All-American and named the Offensive MVP of the BCS title game after Florida State's 34-31 win over Auburn. In addition to becoming the youngest Heisman winner, Winston also set new national freshman records for passing touchdowns (40) and passing yards (4,057).
Maryland women's basketball star Alyssa Thomas was named the league's 24th Mary Garber Award winner, making the Terps' All-American the female athlete of the year for 2013-14.
