Connecticut has announced a new ticket sales promotion that will benefit those serving our country in the nation's military.
Per the Associated Press, for every season ticket or mini-season ticket package sold through Monday, July 7, it will donate a ticket to the Sept. 27 home game against Temple to a member of the military. The Connecticut state Office of Veterans Affairs and Military Programs is assisting the Huskies in distributing the free tickets to military members.
Coming off of a 2-10 first season under Matt Rhule, the Owls might not be the most glamarous home opponent, but at least supporters of the promotion who purchase other UConn home game tickets will see some high-quality opponents for their trouble -- the Huskies will welcome BYU, Boise State and defending American league champion and Fiesta Bowl champion UCF to Rentschler Field in Bob Diaco's debut season as UConn coach.
The former Notre Dame head coach replaced Paul Pasqualoni, fired midseason with the Huskies on their way to an 0-9 start.
