With the 247Sports composite rating offensive tackle George Brown Jr. as a three-star recruit and the No. 42 tackle in the class of 2015, there was a chance that by the time Signing Day rolls around next February, the 6-foot-6, 253-pound Cincinnati native would get lost in the shuffle among Florida fans starry-eyed with even better-ranked prospects.
Yeah, not so much any more. Brown announced his commitment to Will Muschamp and the Gators Friday at Winton Woods High School by holding up a live baby alligator. The proof, from 247Sports' Josh Edwards:
Here's a Vine of the announcement, from Rivals.com:
UPDATE: Per ESPN, the animal in question was not actually a live baby gator ... it was something totally different, a live dwarf caiman provided by Cool Critters Outreach, an organization that cares for and provides exotic animals for edcuational presentations.
So maybe it wasn't technically a gator, or a baby. (Gators are apparently illegal to own in Ohio.) We're going to round up the caiman, though, and maintain that Brown used the appropriate animal in his announcement.
