TCU defensive end Devonte Fields, currently under investigation for an alleged domestic incident, says he is transferring to FCS school Stephen F. Austin.
According to multiple reports, among them the Associated Press and ESPN, Fields sent a tweet on his protected Twitter page. " Just wanted to say thanks to TCU for the opportunity! Anxious to start a new chapter of life at SFA!! #Stillreppinpurple! #Blessed #Newstart."
In a section on his Twitter profile viewable to the public, he writes, " from TCU to SFA just trying to achieve my goal in life #bottomtothetop."
In late July, Fields became 'separated' from TCU, prohibiting him from being on campus or participating in school activities. The AP says TCU officials will not confirm the transfer as they investigate.
A potential NFL prospect who was voted the Big 12 preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Fields surrendered to authorities and was released on a $3,500 bond on allegations he threatened and punched his ex-girlfriend.
A foot injury kept him out of all but three games last season, but Field dominated in 2012 with 10 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
