UPDATE: Les Miles and LSU sports information director Mike Bonnette have confirmed Thomas' reported injury, but there is a possibility that the junior defensive tackle will not miss the entire 2014 season as previously reported.

LSU's defensive line could be even younger than expected in 2014.

On Friday, the Baton Rouge Advocate reported that defensive tackle Quentin Thomas is expected to miss the entire season undergoing rehab for a torn bicep.

Thomas, a redshirt junior from Breaux Bridge, is listed as a starter and was expected to see substantial playing time for the first time in his career this year. He suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice and will undergo at least six months of rehabilitation, the source said.

A team spokesman declined comment.

Thomas was not seen at Thursday's practice and was not present during Friday's open portion of drills.

Thomas appeared in 11 games last season as a backup to Ego Ferguson. With Ferguson and Anthony Johnson now in the NFL, Thomas was expected to break through as a primary contributor in his fourth year on campus.

Thomas' backup on the depth chart is redshirt freshman Greg Gilmore. The Advocate also noted Frank Herron and Maquedius Bain as players that could be in the mix for more playing time on the defensive line.
