On Wednesday night Devonte Fields tweeted that he was transferring from TCU to Stephen F. Austin, but there's been a change in those plans. Stephen F. Austin released a statement Friday saying that Fields will not be attending the school this fall.

Here's a statement on the matter from Stephen F. Austin:

"After originally agreeing to grant a release to Devonte Fields, which would allow him to enroll and play football at Stephen F. Austin, Texas Christian University has since convened a committee and declared that Fields' violations of the student honor code has warranted his suspension from the school.

"The decision by TCU renders Fields ineligible, prohibiting him from participating in football related activities at SFA for at least one year. In light of these developments, Fields has decided not to enroll at SFA and will not be a member of the Lumberjack football team.

"SFA head football coach Clint Conque will have no comment, stating this a decision of Texas Christian University and is a matter involving Fields and TCU."

Fields is currently under investigation for an alleged domestic incident. Fields allegedly punched an ex-girlfriend in the head and threatened her with a gun, saying "I should blast you." He hadsince been "separated" from the TCU program "pending results of an investigation into the allegations against him." He surrendered to a misdemeanor assault warrant on July 25, though he is yet to be charged with any crime.

Fields was named the Big 12's preseason Defensive Player of the Year by Big 12 media. He played in only three games last year due to a foot injury that required surgery, but in 2012 he finished the season with 18.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and an interception.
