Braxton Miller's Tuesday surgery is one less thing Ohio State fans have to worry about on the eve of the 2014 season.

Urban Meyer said on the Big Ten's Tuesday conference call that Miller's surgery for his torn labrum was successful, the Associated Press reported. Meyer said Monday that the operation was due to be performed by Dr. James Andrews.

After missing spring camp with an injury to his throwing shoulder suffered during the Buckeyes' loss to Clemson in the Orange Bowl, Miller tore the labrum in his throwing shoulder in practice Aug. 18, ruling him out for the 2014 season. The senior is expected to return to the Buckeyes in 2015.

Despite Miller's absence from the lineup, Meyer also said Monday that Miller will be one of the team's captains for this season. Redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett will take Miller's spot in the starting lineup.

Barrett will get his first start Saturday in Baltimore against Navy. The game will air at 12 p.m. ET on the CBS Sports Network.
