Pittsburgh star wide receiver Tyler Boyd suffered a dislocated finger in the Panthers' dominant 62-0 win against Delaware.
The school confirmed the injury at halftime, which was stress-free thanks to a 42-0 lead. With no reason to risk further injury, Boyd returned to the sideline in a t-shirt with his hand wrapped to cheer on his teammates in a rout.
According to Saw Werner, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Boyd's injury appears to be minor and is not expected to affect his status for the Panthers' season opener against Boston College on Friday.
Sounds like Boyd injury is minor. Should be good to go for BC Friday night.— Sam Werner (@SWernerPG) August 30, 2014
Boyd recorded two catches for 18 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game. He was one of the most electrifying freshman in the country in 2013, totaling 1,174 receiving yards on the year.
The stars of Pitt's win though are on the offensive line and in the backfield. Five different running backs contributed to a team total of 409 rushing yards. James Conner paced the group with 14 carries for 153 yards and four touchdowns in just one half of action.
Pittsburgh will play at Boston College next Friday. The Eagles open their season at UMass on Saturday.
