WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -Jeremy Trimble made a lasting impression on Temple coach Al Golden.

Trimble scored two long touchdowns in the second half, using his speed and instincts to lead Army over winless Temple 37-21 on Saturday.

"He did it all," Golden said. "We're glad he's graduating."

The teams traded touchdowns - first Army, then Temple - through the first half and went to halftime tied at 21. Then Trimble took over.

First came an 85-yard punt return as the third quarter was coming to a close. Trimble caught Jeff Wathne's punt and sprinted virtually untouched up the left sideline for an 85-yard touchdown.

"I'd like to tell you I knew we were going to have that return, but quite honestly, I called a block and we didn't get it," Army coach Stan Brock said. "Jeremy made that on his own."

Then, early in the fourth quarter, quarterback Carson Williams threw to his right to Trimble, just beyond the line of scrimmage. Picking up blocks by his teammates, reading the angles taken by the safeties and taking the approach of " pretty much, don't get caught," Trimble slipped two tackles, then avoided two more defenders in cutting across the field near the Temple 35. He charged to the left corner and dived into the end zone for the 37-21 lead.

"You're just trying to hit the sideline," Trimble said. "Pretty much it's run to daylight."

Trimble finished with five catches for 125 yards and three punt returns for 128 yards, but a fumble early in the game kept it from being a perfect performance.

"Sometimes he carries that ball too wide," Brock said. "So I jumped him and I told him, he just can't do it. Some kids will fold when you put that kind of pressure on them. Jeremy really doesn't. He never has."

Army improved to 2-3. Temple fell to 0-5.

Adam DiMichele was 23-for-42 passing for 314 yards for Temple with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

While Army's defense played well - the Black Knights recovered three fumbles, intercepted two passes, sacked DiMichele twice and held Temple to 104 yards rushing - the offense was not as efficient, despite Williams' two TD passes.

Army converted only three of its 14 third downs, though it was 1-for-1 on fourth down. Army gained 154 yards on the ground.

Williams was 11-for-26 passing for 175 yards with an interception for Army.

"Any time special teams or the defense scores, we'll take that," Williams said. "The overall goal is to win. Any time you put points on the board, it's definitely a positive."

It was Army's first win over a fellow team from the Football Bowl Subdivision this season. The Black Knights hadn't beaten a team from the Division I-A level since beating Baylor more than a year ago.

Corey Anderson's opening kickoff return snapped another streak for Army - the Black Knights had not scored in the first quarter this season, with opponents outscoring them 32-0 before Saturday. With Anderson's touchdown 17 seconds into the game, it was the fastest Army scored in a game since 1969.
