RENO, Nev. (AP) - Tyler Lantrip passed for 366 yards and three touchdowns and Nevada's defense held UNLV to 110 total yards as the Wolf Pack beat the Rebels 37-0 Saturday for their seventh straight win in the intrastate rivalry and first shutout in the history of the series.

Rishard Matthews caught 10 passes for a career-best 220 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown, and Stefphon Jefferson rushed for 100 yards for the Wolf Pack (2-3), who totaled 699 yards on offense in their home opener. They now lead the series 22-15.

Dionz Bradford ran 18 times for 79 yards for the Rebels (1-4). UNLV quarterback Caleb Herring was sacked five times and didn't complete a pass until 4:17 was left in the game. He finished 1 of 14 for 8 yards and one interception.

Nevada scored 17 points in the last 7 minutes of the second quarter to open up a 20-0 lead and never was threatened. The Wolf Pack's defensive tackles dominated the line with Jack Reynoso recording two quarterback sacks and Brett Roy four tackles for loss, including a sack.

Lantrip completed 18 of 29 passes, with one interception. He also threw touchdown passes of 32 yards to Shane Anderson and 34 yards to Corbin Louks, a former quarterback at Utah before transferring to Nevada three years ago.

Lantrip had the most passing yards for Nevada since Colin Kaepernick threw for 370 against Maryland in the 2008 Humanitarian Bowl. Matthews' receiving total was the most since Nate Burleson had 215 yards against BYU in 2002.

Lantrip started Nevada's first three games but was benched at the start of Saturday's contest in favor of redshirt freshman Cody Fajardo, who ran for 49 yards and completed 11 of 15 passes for 93 yards on the game but only engineered one of the scoring drives.

Lantrip came off the bench midway through the second quarter and hooked up with Matthews for the 90 yard score, hitting him in the right flat at about the 20 before the speedy receiver eluded two defenders and ran another 80 yards to the end zone to put Nevada ahead 10-0.

UNLV went three and out in the next series and eight plays later Lantrip hit former Louks over the middle for a touchdown and a 17-0 lead 1:45 before the half.

The Wolf Pack went ahead 23-0 on Allen Hardison's 22-yard field goal with 3:11 left in the third quarter and the Rebels never threatened after that.

Nevada turned the ball over its first two possessions, the second time when Quinton Pointer hit Fajardo and CJ Cox recovered the ball on Nevada's 18. But two plays later Isiah Frey intercepted Herring's pass intended for Phillip Payne in the corner of the end zone and Hardison capped a 14-play 68-yard drive with a 29-yard field goal to put Nevada ahead 3-0.

After another Rebel punt, Lantrip threw 25 yards to Matthews on the left sideline, then 24 yards to Shane Anderson on the right sideline to set up Hardison's 41-yard field goal for a 20-0 lead 17 seconds before the half.
