TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Terrance West carried 27 times for 153 yards and Towson scored 17 consecutive points after falling behind to defeat William & Mary 20-17 Saturday in a Colonial Athletic Association opener.
Towson, which won its ninth straight home opener, scored a touchdown with 8 seconds left in the first half when quarterback Grant Enders' fumble at the William & Mary 2 was recovered by Spencer Wilkins to make it 10-10.
The Tigers (1-1), playing for the first time in 16 days, went ahead 13-10 on D.J. Soven's 36-yard third-quarter field goal. They made it 20-10 with 8:15 left in the game on Enders' 14-yard pass to Erron Banks after an 84-yard drive.
The Tribe (0-3) got within three points with 5:44 left but their final drive stalled at the Towson 33.
West failed to score for Towson, ending a streak of nine games in which he had scored at least twice.
