Georgia Tech scores big in-state offensive lineman Shamire Devine
“I picked Georgia Tech over Florida State, and I really don't know who the third guy was,” Devine told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder also held offers from Georgia, Tennessee and others. Devine was recently named position group MVP at the Atlanta Nike Camp and has seen his stock take off in the past few weeks but focused on academics when making his decision.
“Florida State was ranked in the top 10 in computers, while Georgia Tech was in the top three," he said. "So I chose the school with the best academics. I don't really care about the football part. I just want the best degree I can get, as far as the field I want to study. That's Georgia Tech.”
Devine becomes the third commitment for Georgia Tech's class of 2013 and gives the program someone who many consider as the top tackle in the state. At this point, all of the Yellow Jackets commits are on the offensive side of the ball.
