Steven Mitchell impresses, commits at USC camp

Mission Hills (Calif.) wide receiver Steven Mitchell is one of the fastest-rising recruits on the West Coast and used his chance to impress the staff at USC during the Trojans' skill camp on Sunday to earn an offer he promptly committed to.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder has been a mainstay on the camp circuit this spring and summer, picking up offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Washington among others. A quick, fast wideout who makes plays in the open space, Mitchell was hoping all along to earn an offer from one of his favorites growing up, USC.

Mitchell is a member of Keyshawn Johnson's 1925 All-Star 7-on-7 team and has impressed observers at just about every event he's competed at. On Saturday before committing, he was one of the stars at the Dana Hills Airstrike Tournament with his high school team where he torched several FBS caliber defensive backs.

The first slot receiver for the Trojans' class of 2013, Mitchell becomes the ninth commitment overall for Lane Kiffin and company.
