UCLA adds local defender Jayon Brown
One of the areas the new UCLA staff is looking to recruit harder than previous regimes is, not surprisingly, in their own backyard and that paid off in the form of a commitment on Wednesday night from Long Beach (Calif.) linebacker/safety Jayon Brown.
"UCLA is great," Brown told 247Sports.com. "It's close to home, they offer a great education and they have a great coaching staff. I love the defense they run and how the staff prepares their players."
The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder held offers from Colorado and Colorado State to go along with several schools showing interest as his senior season has ramped up. Brown will wind up just up the freeway at UCLA playing a bit of linebacker and safety if all goes as planned over the next few months however.
"I'm going to take my visits and just be certain of my decision," he added. "But I'm pretty sold on UCLA so that will be tough for me to change my mind."
Brown becomes the 14th commitment for the Bruins class of 2013 and fourth linebacker.
