Brendan Mahon is Penn State's first 2013 OL commitment

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger
Penn State's recruiting has picked up in the month of March and the program kept things rolling this weekend with the commitment of Randolph (N.J.) offensive lineman Brendan Mahon on Saturday.

“I met with coach (Bill) O'Brien earlier and told him I committed,” Mahon told Scout. “He knows in my heart I always loved Penn State and he was thrilled. I'm the first offensive line commit for him, and he was really happy.”
Florida, North Carolina, UCLA and others have extended offers for the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder. Mahon seriously considered Rutgers but, in the end, was swayed by what Penn State had to offer him.

“It's a great program,” he said. “I like everything about it. I don't just like it, I love it. Look at tradition behind Penn State football, and having 110,000 people and having Beaver Stadium packed. State College on game day become one of the town with the most people in it in Pennsylvania."

Mahon is the Nittany Lions' fifth commitment for the class of 2013.
