Clemson picks up Maryland linebacker Dorian O'Daniel

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger
Maryland is not the typical recruiting grounds for a program like Clemson but with an increased national profile over the past few years that didn't seem to matter for the Tigers on Saturday as the program picked up a big commitment from Olney (Md.) linebacker Dorian O'Daniel.

"My mom was talking about recruiting and made the analogy about picking out a wedding dress," O'Daniel told TigerIllustrated.com. "She said it's similar to finding the right school. Once you find the wedding dress that suits you, you got it. That's the way I felt about Clemson. She always asks me about schools and every time she brings up Clemson it's bright and vivid for me and what I'm looking for."

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder held close to 30 offers from programs such as Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma but O'Daniel will head south for college after seeing what Clemson had to offer him.

"It's a home outside of home," O'Daniel said. "It fit what I wanted. They have wonderful academics. They want me to succeed as a person and develop into a leader at Clemson."

The U.S. Army All-American is the seventh commitment for Clemson's class of 2013 and fourth linebacker of the group. O'Daniel racked up 40 tackles and five sacks last season.
