Michigan State picks up commitment from linebacker Shane Jones

While Michigan and Ohio State have made most of the waves in Big Ten recruiting, Michigan State made one of their own on Monday, grabbing a commitment from one of the top players in the Midwest after Cincinnati (Ohio) linebacker Shane Jones pledged to be a Spartan.

"It's a great feeling," Jones told 247Sports. "I really felt comfortable with the team and campus, and I wanted to be a Spartan."

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder also held offers from Oklahoma, Nebraska and West Virginia. Jones has been on campus before and liked what the Michigan State coaches were telling him throughout the recruiting process.

"I would definitely say the coaches did the best job of showing me around and they explained that I will fit their system and team."

Jones becomes the sixth 2013 commitment for Michigan State. He had 90 tackles and two interceptions last season as a junior.
