Linebacker D.J. Green commits to Baylor

Mesquite (Texas) linebacker D.J. Green had been thinking and thinking about committing to Baylor for a while and finally pulled the trigger Tuesday night to give the Bears a pledge from one of the top linebackers in North Texas.

"I just couldn't go wrong with Baylor,'' Green told SicEmSports.com. "I was a little skeptical committing early. But like I said a couple of weeks ago, I felt like I was close. Knowing that Baylor has everything I wanted, it was time to do it.''

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder also held an offer from SMU. Green gives the Bears a tough, physical linebacker who growing as a football player.

"I'm going to bring effort and aggressiveness,'' Green said. "I think my intelligence to the game is a strength. But I know I'm going to have to work on playing space and work better on my pass drops. Football is evolving into a passing game.''

Green becomes the seventh commitment for Baylor's class of 2013 and second linebacker headed to Waco. He had close to 100 tackles as a junior last season.
