Ohio State reaches into Texas and pulls commitment from dual-threat QB

Ohio State has already made some big pickups on the recruiting trail but the Buckeyes grabbed an important piece for their 2013 on Wednesday as Wichita Falls (Texas) dual-threat quarterback J.T. Barrett committed to Urban Meyer and the program.

"I feel Ohio State is the place for me," Barrett told Rivals. "I felt if I would have went somewhere else, I would be missing out so I wanted to be a part of the Buckeye family."

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder held offers from schools such as Arizona, Baylor, Nebraska and Texas Tech. Barrett is ranked as the 86th overall prospect by MaxPreps in the upcoming class and gives Ohio State plenty of momentum heading into their spring game over the weekend.

"I did call coach Meyer," Barrett told the site Wednesday. "He said I made the Buckeyes a better team today."

Barrett is the program's 10th commitment for the class of 2013. As a junior last season, he racked up over 3,000 yards of offense and 20 touchdowns.
