Arkansas adds commitment from running back Blanchard

It didn't take long for Arkansas interim head coach John L. Smith to grab a big commitment on the recruiting trail as Denham Springs (La.) running back Kaleb Blanchard gave his verbal to the program on Wednesday.

"It makes me feel wonderful. I've come so far from the shoulder, the hamstring, and I'm just glad that I can give the fans something good to look to right now," Blanchard told "I'm glad I could help out the university. When I come, I'm coming 110 percent ready to work so we can win that national title and they'll like me even more."

The 6-foot, 190-pounder also held offers from schools such as Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech. Blanchard recently took a trip to Fayetteville and almost committed then but decided to wait until this week.

"To be honest, I was a split second from committing," he said. "I kept asking myself if I should commit now or wait, now or wait. I came home and said, man, I should have committed then. I was so relieved that they still wanted me because that's the only place I love."

Blanchard becomes Arkansas' only class of 2013 commitment.
