Louisville dips into Florida for two commits

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger
Louisville head coach Charlie Strong knows the state of Florida very well on the recruiting trail and reached in this week to get talented Apopka (Fla.) defensive back Terrence Ross and Pensacola (Fla.) athlete Shamar Johnson, who both committed to the Cardinals Wednesday evening.

"They have a nice city and I like that," Ross told CardinalSports.com. "I'm really looking forward to being there. I think it is the right fit for me."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Ross also held offers from Cincinnati, N.C. State and Wake Forest. Johnson is mostly known as a basketball player but is trilled to see his future on the gridiron at a number of positions.

"I said Louisville is going to be my next home," Johnson said. "I talked with Coach Strong, he said I made a good choice. He said he wants me to be a to part of what Louisville's got going on. I can see myself there."

The pair gives the Cardinals seven commits in the class of 2013, with Ross becoming the second defensive back of the group.
