Quarterback Chavas Rawlins is headed to West Virginia

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger
If Dana Holgorsen was looking for his next Geno Smith, he might have just found him after West Virginia received a commitment from Monessen (Pa.) quarterback Chavas Rawlins on Friday.

"It's official!! I'll be playing college football at the university of West Virginia," Rawlins posted on Facebook.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder held offers from Georgia Tech, Nebraska and Pitt among others.

"I always liked West Virginia, and they were there from the beginning. Once they told me I was their top guy, I told them they were my top guy," he told WVSports.com. "He told me he really liked me as a quarterback and I showed a lot of versatility."

Rawlins is the fourth commitment for the Mountaineers' class of 2013, three of whom hail from Pennsylvania. As a junior last year, the dual-threat quarterback racked up over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns.
