Athlete Isaac McDonald lands at West Virginia

Hialeah (Fla.) athlete Isaac McDonald re-opened his recruitment and was searching for the right fit at a school and found one over the weekend after committing to West Virginia over several other offers.

"WVU will always be my favorite school," McDonald told 247Sports. "Robert Sands is my idol. I watched him two years ago and told myself I want to be just like him. When I got the offer from WVU, they were the only school to tell me they were sure I was going to play safety in college.”

The 6-foot-t, 205-pounder was previously committed to Clemson but backed off that pledge in early June. McDonald can play a number of positions once he gets to Morgantown, including defensive end and linebacker as his likely destinations.

McDonald also held offers from Miami, Louisville and South Carolina among others. He becomes the ninth commitment for West Virginia's class of 2013 and the first from the state of Florida.
