Corner Jalen Ramsey gives USC another big commitment

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger

With the way USC is recruiting nowadays, it probably makes opposing coaches wonder what the Trojans would be doing if they weren't hampered by NCAA sanctions. The program added another big addition to their recruiting class on Monday after Nashville (Tenn.) cornerback Jalen Ramsey donned the cardinal and gold and committed to the school with plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail.

"I thought [July] 16th was a good day," Ramsey told CBSSports.com at The Opening. "I initially wanted to do it on the 24th, my brother's birthday, but my dad will be at work that day and I wanted to make sure my family was there. It's a big day for me."

The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back also strongly considered his other finalists Vanderbilt and Washington. He took an unofficial visit to see the Huskies following The Opening, where he was one of the top defensive players in attendance, but couldn't resist what the school in Southern California had to offer.

"I like everything about USC," he said. "They were one of the schools I was talking about when I mentioning academics. USC is a private school. They have great academics.

"The network base that you will gain at USC after your football career, in L.A., with a that degree... USC alumni are everywhere and they can help you out. Those are the two major things I like about USC."

Ramsey becomes the 15th commitment for the Trojans, who are expected to wind up with 18 players in the class of 2013 when counting early enrollees.
