Oregon picks up commitment from lineman Doug Brenner

By Bryan Fischer | Blogger

Oregon learned of tough news on Sunday with safety John Boyett's injury knocking him out for the year, but the news wasn't all bad for the Ducks a day after beating Fresno State. Portland (Ore.) offensive lineman Doug Brenner committed to them.

"Everything about Oregon is exciting," Brenner told DuckTerritory. "The Ducks are ranked No. 4 in the country, they have a great offense, and Chip Kelly is literally changing the game of college football."

The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder picked up his offer from Oregon two weeks ago and added it to others from Air Force, Wyoming and Oregon State. Though Brenner plays multiple positions for Jesuit High School, he was recruited to Eugene with a particular spot in mind.

"Coach [Steve] Greatwood wants me to play center for Oregon at the next level. I am ready to do whatever they need me to do," he said. "I play tight end and defensive tackle right now, but I'm ready to work and learn a new position."

Brenner is the ninth commitment for the Ducks in the class of 2013 and third along the offensive line.
