Rufus Alexander Draft Journal II

As Rufus Alexander prepares for the NFL Draft on April 28, the former All-American linebacker from Oklahoma checks in with the second of three CBS SportsLine.com's Draft Journals.

This week, Alexander discusses what he has been doing to keep busy, which teams have contacted him recently and the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech.

I'm back home in Opelousas, Louisiana now and been trying to keep myself busy. I've been doing odd jobs at home for my stepmom -- putting up lights, ceiling fans. I needed something to do, so she put me to work.

I'm also relaxing and working out about 2-3 days a week. There isn't alot to do here, except hang out with family, work out and also go four-wheeling in the woods.

I was living near campus when I was at Oklahoma, but haven't been there in a while. After seeing the Virginia Tech tragedy on the news, I'm sure it's a pretty scary feeling back in Norman.

For the draft I'll be at home, but working around the house. My stepmom will have the draft on, but I don't want to watch it. I'm sure she'll run in from the other room when I get drafted.

The only time I've ever watched the draft was the past 2-3 years, because I wanted to see where some of the guys I played with got drafted. Those are the only memories I have of the draft because I've never been a big draft watcher.

Contact with teams has pretty much died down now, but I did get some calls from some coaches from the Colts and Jaguars. They just call to see how things are going and tell you things to keep working on and to be ready because they might call me on draft day. I don't care where I go in the draft as long as I get an opportunity to play.
