Roundup: Bulls to accept Sun Bowl bid; Huskies head to Charlotte

South Florida, which was ranked No. 2 at one point during this season, will accept a bowl bid today to play in the Sun Bowl in El Paso on Dec. 31.

"There was alot of factors, but the biggest was they were the highest-ranked team to us," said executive director Bernie Olivas. "It's always good to have Top 25 teams in your game, so that was the deciding factory. They beat West Virginia, which might be playing for the national championship and had a great win against Auburn."

The Sun Bowl will have to wait until the final BCS Standings are released on Sunday before it can select its other team, which will be the third pick out of the Pac-10. If USC and Arizona State make the BCS, they will be looking at the Oregon State/Oregon loser. If only one team makes it, they will be looking at the Oregon State/Oregon winner.

UConn accepts Dec. 29 bowl

Connecticut, which reached as high as No. 16 in the polls, accepted a bid to the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

“We were able to secure the second place team in the Big East Conference, which is a great achievement for UConn and for the Bowl,” said executive director Will Webb.

Connecticut will face a team from the ACC, which will most likely be Florida State, Wake Forest or Georgia Tech.
