Duke gets permission to meet with Vandy's Johnson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt football coach Bobby Johnson is meeting with officials from Duke to discuss their coaching vacancy.

Vanderbilt vice chancellor David Williams says the university granted Duke permission to speak with Johnson, who was meeting with the Blue Devils on Monday in Durham, N.C.

Williams said he was scheduled to meet with Johnson later in the evening when he returned. He said Vanderbilt is happy with Johnson's performance, and intends to keep the coach in Nashville.

Johnson has a 20-50 record since arriving at Vanderbilt in 2002.

Ted Roof was fired as Duke's coach on Nov. 26 after posting a 6-45 record in four-plus seasons.
