Since head coach Mike Leach took over Texas Tech in 2000, the Red Raiders have transformed their offense into one of the best in the nation. Current quarterback Graham Harrell is closing in on Colt Brennan's passing and touchdown records and a possible Heisman trophy.

Is a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award with his nation-leading 393.4 yards per game. Last season, Harrell completed 47 of his school-record 72 attempts for 420 yards and two touchdowns, upsetting No. 3-ranked Oklahoma. He racked up 466 yards and five touchdowns on 36-of-48 attempts in the loss to Texas last season. Won the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2007, joining Kliff Kingsbury (2002) and B.J. He threw for 643 yards against Kansas State, the fourth best single-game performance in NCAA Division I-A history. Threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over Oklahoma. | Comment: Won the starting job over Robert Johnson in a heated fall battle. Finished with a nation-leading 4,742 yards passing and 32 touchdowns. Guided the Red Raiders to an 8-4 record, including a victory over California in the Holiday Bowl. He completed 39-of-60 passes with a career-high 520 yards and three touchdowns to earn MVP honors. He passed for at least 300 yards in the first nine games and topped the 400-yard mark six times. | Comment: The first quarterback in the Mike Leach offense, throwing for a 95 career touchdowns and 12,429 yards. In 2002, he led Texas Tech to a 42-38 win over then-No. 3 Texas, passing for 473 yards and six touchdowns on the nation's third-ranked pass defense. Threw another six touchdowns against New Mexico. In his first collegiate start in 1999, he threw for 492 yards and four touchdowns against Oklahoma. He left Texas Tech as the owner of 39 school records, 13 conference records and seven NCAA records.
