Iowa State's Johnson breaks kickoff return mark in single game

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Iowa State's Leonard Johnson broke the major college football single-game record for kickoff return yards Saturday against Oklahoma State.

The freshman had 304 kickoff return yards after a 26-yard return midway through the third quarter Saturday at No. 9 Oklahoma State. Earlier in the game, Johnson had returns of 72, 73 and 48 yards.

Justin Miller of Clemson set the previous Football Bowl Subdivision record of 282 yards against Florida State on Sept. 25, 2004. The NCAA all-divisions record is 326 yards, set by Bashir Levingston of Eastern Washington against Sacramento State on Oct. 31, 1998, in a I-AA game.

Oklahoma State led the Cyclones 52-10 at the end of the third quarter.
