Bush plans to attend Army-Navy game on Dec. 6

WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush plans to take in the next chapter of one of college football's most-storied rivalries, going next month to watch the annual Army-Navy game.

The 109th meeting between the two teams takes place Dec. 6 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Navy leads the series 52-49-7.

In fact, the Midshipmen have mostly dominated the three major service academies, winning the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy, awarded yearly to the winner of the competition between them, for five years in a row.

The annual game has been moved to later in the year to give the matchup more visibility. It now will be the last regular-season college football game each year.

Bush previously attended the game in 2001 and 2004.

While in Philadelphia, Bush will view the commissioning of his portrait at the Union League's Presidential Portrait Collection. The league's tradition for collecting presidential portraits started in 1862, according to White House press secretary Dana Perino.
