Missouri coach Pinkel agrees to seven-year contract

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri and Gary Pinkel have agreed to terms on a seven-year contract that guarantees the Tigers' football coach $2.3 million per season through 2015.

Athletic director Mike Alden said Tuesday the new deal begins on Jan. 1. Pinkel's previous contract would have expired on Dec. 31, 2012.

The new contract is an increase of $450,000 from the deal the 56-year-old Pinkel signed last December. Pinkel has led the 12th-ranked Tigers to a 21-4 record the last two seasons, winning the Big 12 North each year.

Missouri is 9-2 heading into the regular season finale against Kansas on Saturday at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium.
