ISU hires grandson of HOFer Shula as offensive assistant
NORMAL, Ill. -- Illinois State has hired the grandson of Hall of Famer Don Shula as an offensive assistant.
Dan Shula is coming off a two-year graduate assistantship at Miami after spending the 2006 season at Alabama as a graduate assistant coach.
Shula's father, David Shula, was head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals from 1992-96.
Dan Shula appeared in 15 games over three seasons as a quarterback at Dartmouth and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2006.
Illinois State head coach Brock Spack says Shula brings "a cerebral approach to the game" and will help the team's recruiting efforts.
