USC linebacker Brown reinstated in time for opener

LOS ANGELES -- Southern California linebacker Luthur Brown has been fully reinstated and will be available to play in Saturday's season opener against San Jose State.

Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday on the school's Web site that Brown would practice later in the day for the first time this fall. He sat out all of training camp.

Brown has regained his academic eligibility, making him available for the fourth-ranked Trojans. The redshirt senior can play all three linebacking positions.
