Vols accused of attempted armed robbery out indefinitely

  •

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Three Tennessee players charged with attempted armed robbery won't practice or play for the time being.

Coach Lane Kiffin said Sunday he has no timeline for making a decision on the future of wide receiver Nu'Keese Richardson, safety Janzen Jackson and defensive back Mike Edwards. He says he wants to gather all the necessary information first.

The three 18-year-olds are accused of demanding money from three people at a gas station near Tennessee's campus early Thursday morning. They were arrested shortly after the incident but have all been released from jail.

Kiffin says he has spoken with all three freshmen.

Kiffin says their absence hurt the Volunteers (5-5, 2-4 Southeastern Conference) in a 42-17 loss at Mississippi on Saturday. Jackson had been a starter and Richardson and Edwards had been providing depth on special teams.
