Report: Sandusky's lawyer might discuss guilty plea

  •

Former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky may have to discuss a guilty plea guilty on child sex abuse charges, his lawyer told the Patriot-News of Harrisburg.

Joe Amendola made these comments regarding his client on the same day that a new accuser, a now-29-year-old man, became the first plaintiff to file suit. That man claimed he was sexually

abused by Sandusky more than 100 times from 1992, beginning when the man was 10 years old.

It also asserts that Sandusky threatened to harm the man's family if he didn't stay quiet, the paper said, citing court documents.

Sandusky maintains his innocence. Amendola told the paper that he continues to plan a defense, but acknowledged a potential change in direction.

"That could happen if more allegations come forth and Jerry gets to the point where he realizes fighting against more than the original allegations might be a real uphill battle," Amendola told the paper. "Bottom line, Jerry has always maintained his innocence, from the first allegation, and continues to maintain innocence. What happens with any additional charges which may be filed remains to be seen."
