After another Rose Bowl, Wisconsin extends Bielema to 2017
Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema, who led the Badgers to consecutive Rose Bowls for the first time in over a decade, was rewarded by having another year added on to his contract.
Despite a 45-38 loss to Oregon in the Jan. 2 game, the Badgers are 60-19 in six seasons under Bielema, who was Wisconsin's defensive coordinator before Barry Alvarez stepped down as head coach.
It marks the second straight year Wisconsin has added a year to Bielema's contract, now extending it through Jan. 31, 2017.
The Badgers have been to 11 consecutive bowl games, and the program is 33-16 in Big Ten games under Bielema. Sixteen players have earned All-America honors in his six years as head coach.
Sixteen Badgers have also been drafted into the NFL, including a trio of first-round picks.
Wisconsin's 16-game home winning streak is the second-longest active streak in the nation.
