  •

The Big East is close to adding Memphis beginning in 2013, according to an ESPN report.

Citing a conference source, the report said that all Memphis sports will play in the Big East, which will add Central Florida, Houston, SMU, Navy, San Diego State and Boise State in the future. The conference will lose West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

The Big East' wants to reach 12 football teams and have a conference championship game. Memphis athletic director R.C. Johnson declined to comment when asked by CBSSports.com about the potential move.

---Jerry Sandusky's lawyer asked for secret grand jury testimony to prepare for his client's trial on charges of sexual abuse.

Joe Amendola said late Monday that he filed a court motion seeking transcripts of testimony by witness the attorney general intends to call to the stand, and said he opposes a request by prosecutors to bring in a jury from outside Centre County to hear the case.

A hearing has been scheduled for Friday to discuss Sandusky's request for details about the allegations against him. It will also address his desire to have contact with his grandchildren.
