Judge allows Sandusky to see grandchildren

Judge John Cleland ruled in favor of Jerry Sandusky on several issues at a Friday court hearing, leaving the former Penn State defensive coordinator pleased and relieved according to his attorney Joe Amendola.

The major victory for Sandusky was the judge's OK that he get to see most of his grandchildren while on house arrest while awaiting trial on child sex abuse charges.

"Jerry pursued visitation with his grandkids because they missed him and wanted to see him and communicate with him," Joe Amendola wrote in a statement. "Jerry, Dottie, and their entire family are very relieved by and pleased with the Court???s decision earlier today modifying Jerry???s bail conditions to permit him to see and otherwise communicate with most of his grandchildren with the lone exception that his communication with three of his grandchildren will be left to the discretion of the judge presiding over the custody litigation involving the parents of those children."

Cleland also ruled in Sandusky's favor so that he can use his porch, have friends visit and be able to help a private investigator on trips away from his home.

Exercising and being able to take care of his dog were also high on Sandusky's list, according to Amendola.

"Jerry is also happy he can now have visitation with long time friends with the prior approval of the Probation Department and will be able to continue to use the deck to his home to exercise, care for and supervise his dog, Bo, when Bo is in the yard."

Sandusky himself spoke briefly after the hearing, saying he appreciates his defense team and other friends who have stood by him.

"I don't have a lot of resources, but what I do have is people who will pour their heart and soul out into defending me," Sandusky said. "I'm grateful for them and the people who have stood beside me ...".
