Report: RB Wesley to leave TCU for family reasons
One of TCU's top running backs, Ed Wesley, reportedly will not be with the team as it enters the Big 12 Conference this season.
Wesley, who has rushed for 2,442 yards in three seasons, will leave school because of family reasons, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
No explanation was given for the move, which was confirmed by coach Gary Patterson.
Wesley was the Horned Frogs' second-leading rusher last season (726 yards) and led the team in 2010 (1,078). He has scored 24 touchdowns in his career.
He may be best remembered for his 33-yard reception during the 21-19 Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin in Jan. 2011.
It is expected that Waymon James, who had a team-leading 875 yards last season and Matthew Tucker, 702 yards, will pick up the load.
Last year, the Horned Frogs had an 11-2 record, including 7-0 in their final season in the Mountain West Conference. They won the Poinsettia Bowl 31-24 over Louisiana Tech.
