Report: Big Ten to realign in 2014

The Big Ten will realign its divisions in 2014 with the additions of Rutgers and Maryland, according to a report from ESPN.com.

The conference will also lose the “Leaders” and “Legends” designations, opting for East and West divisions, according to the report, which cited league sources.

The East would feature Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers, while the West would feature Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.

ESPN reported that Big Ten school presidents are expected to approve the new alignment and division names.
