Danny Langsdorf named Beavers' offensive coordinator

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) Danny Langsdorf, who has spent the last three seasons with the New Orleans Saints, was named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Oregon State, coach Mike Riley announced.

Langsdorf, 33, was the graduate assistant on offense for the Beavers from 1997-98, during Riley's first head coaching stint with the team.

The past two seasons, Langsdorf has served as the assistant wide receivers-special teams coach for the Saints.

"I'm excited about bringing Danny back to Oregon State; he did a great job during his first term here as a graduate assistant," Riley said in a statement. "I had a chance to work with him one season in New Orleans and was equally impressed by his abilities."

Before the Saints, Langsdorf served as an assistant coach with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

The McMinnville, Ore., native played for Boise State from 1991-93 before transferring to Linfield College. He was the Wildcats' starting quarterback from 1994-95, playing under his father, Ed Langsdorf.

"It feels great to be back at Oregon State; this is a terrific opportunity for me," Langsdorf said. "I had a great job in New Orleans and I loved working with the Saints personnel, but the opportunity to return to Oregon State was something I just couldn't pass up."
