Bowden Bowl History
A history of the Bowden Bowl between Florida State's Bobby Bowden and Clemson's Tommy Bowden. Bobby's Seminoles lead the series 5-3.
2006: Clemson 27, Florida State 20 James Davis ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with eight seconds left to lift the Tigers. With the score tied at 20, Davis broke a run for 47 yards to give Clemson a 1st-and-goal with 22 seconds remaining. The victory was the first time Clemson won in Tallahassee under Tommy Bowden. The game also saw Florida State block an extra point and a field goal.

2004: Florida State 41, Clemson 22: Wyatt Sexton threw for 162 yards and a touchdown after replacing an injured Chris Rix, and Florida State forced five turnovers in the victory. Rix sprained his right ankle late in the first quarter and was able to return. Justin Miller matched a school record with two kickoff return touchdowns for Clemson.
2003: Clemson 26, Florida State 10: Charlie Whitehurst threw for one touchdown and ran for another and Clemson ended Florida State's national title aspirations with its first victory ever over a top three team. Aaron Hunt added four field goals and the Tigers held the Seminoles to their fewest points of the season and just 11 yards rushing.

2001: Florida State 41, Clemson 27: Chris Rix threw four touchdown passes as the Seminoles defeated Clemson for the 10th consecutive time. Clemson quarterback Woodrow Dantzler had 336 total yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
2000: Florida State 54, Clemson 7: Chris Weinke threw for 521 yards, including a 98-yard pass to Snoop Minnis, as the Seminoles rolled past Clemson. The game wasn't without controversy as Bobby Bowden kept his starters on the field well into the fourth quarter.
1999: Florida State 17, Clemson 14: Trailing by three later in the game, Clemson's Tony Lazarra missed a 41-yard field goal, preserving the victory for the Seminoles. Travis Minor scored on a 1-yard run and Chris Weinke threw to Dan Kendra for a 2-point conversion with 10 seconds left in the third quarter as Florida State tied it 14-all. Sebastian Janikowski's third field goal, a 39-yarder, with 5:26 was the difference.
