Insider: Nutt's plain crazy, right? Yeah, like a sly Hog

Somewhere along the line the cutting-edge high school coach decided to dabble in an offense that was last prevalent in the early 1950s. McFadden began lining up in the shotgun, essentially running the old single wing.

They called it the "Wildcat" formation for no particular reason. It did force defenses to make a choice -- single-cover the receivers in order to stack the line or backing off the safeties and risk McFadden, or teammate Felix Jones, running wild.

The passing game turned out OK, too. Arkansas is second-to-last in SEC passing (11th). But before Friday's loss to LSU, Arkansas was averaging a touchdown every 11.8 passes. That's the same number of average at-bats it took Babe Ruth to hit a home run.

From Bambino to Run DMc, big plays are big plays. McFadden is 5-for-5 this season for 70 passing yards and two touchdowns.

If you're willing discard minimum qualification standards for a moment, Nutt has both the SEC's leading rusher and passer.

More on that later -- later being Saturday night. Wildcat vs. Gator sounds like an Animal Planet special.

Which would be as unlikely as Arkansas' Nutt (coaching) job.
