Focus will have to be the buzzword for Arkansas this week as it has Saturday off before facing Texas A&M on Oct. 9 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The result of the week prior -- Alabama 24, Arkansas 20 -- ensures as much.
The Razorbacks will need to continually remind themselves that they're a good football team that played the No. 1 team in the nation to within four points and still have plenty of goals to attain.
It won't be easy. Alabama proved once again that it might take a miracle to challenge for SEC Western Division supremacy. So Arkansas may be already ruled out of a BCS bowl even in late September. That doesn't mean that the bowl destination won't be solid, though.
Arkansas also learned that its star quarterback, Ryan Mallett, is human after all. It learned that it has some work to do on defense. It learned that it needs to develop a stronger rushing game. All of these are teaching points for a Razorback team that has largely survived the injury bug to date.
Look for coach Bobby Petrino to use the week off as a way to perfect his team, which came close to the big win over Alabama a week earlier.
