Razorbacks report: Notes, quotes
SCOUTING THE OFFENSE
Last week at Mississippi State the Razorbacks proved they could move the ball and score points without QB Matt Jones making plays on the run. With depth at running back and progress in the passing game, the Razorbacks are third in the SEC in scoring and fourth in total offense, with 31.4 points and 413 yards per game.
SCOUTING THE DEFENSE
A suspect defense looked vulnerable at times against Mississippi State but came up with two key stops, keeping Mississippi State out of the end zone on a goal-line stand in the final seconds first half and then forcing the Bulldogs to punt with 4:32 left, ending State's final possession.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"He's really out there on one leg and it forced him to sit in the pocket. He went through all his reads and was very accurate, and his receivers probably played their best game of the year. When Matt is not 4.4 (seconds for 40 yards) you notice he manages the game a little bit better. Of course I like it when he's 4.4, don't get me wrong." -- Arkansas coach Houston Nutt, on the positive side effect of QB Matt Jones' pulled hamstring.
